  • The difficulty in creating ebooks

Have you tried to create your own e-books before?

If the answer is yes, you’ll know that it can get complicated pretty fast. There are a number of options that people use today, such as Canva & PhotoShop, and I have even heard people saying they use PowerPoint.

However, what these software doesn’t offer is a way to simplify the creation process.

How many hours did you spend creating your last e-book? I bet it’s more than you wished.

In this case, it is certainly worth investing in a software that can help you achieve your objectives faster and much easier.

What should you use? Designrr and Sqribble

Right now, if you google ‘ebook creator software’, you’ll be greeted with a ton of choices, like the aforementioned Canva, and others like Thinkific. While these options might help to do the job, Designrr & Sqribble has some of the best solution you should look at.

Why?

They’re comprehensive, full of features, and and really simple to use.

Beyond that, they offer attractive pricing, which is a bonus for fledging entrepreneurs on a tight budget.

What are Sqribble & Designrr?

Both of these softwares are here to help you create attractive lead magnets to target your readers.

Both are cloud based, which means that you don’t need to download & install any software to your pc. What that also means is that you can access them at any location.

If you didn’t bring your laptop out, you can still login to your account from any pc to begin or continue your projects.

What’s really cool is that they both allow you to create e-books very quickly by repurposing your existing content.

Let’s say that you have a blog post written, and you wish to turn it into a PDF for readers to down load, you can easily do so in minutes with either of these softwares. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel here.

Alternatively, you can select to create your own by making use of the dozens of templates available in their libraries.

These are just some of the key features that I feel will benefit any user the most, and the end results are beautiful & sure to entice readers to down load.

Comparison Table of Sqribble and Designrr

Review of Sqribble

Sqribble is feature packed, and appeals to people from all across the industry, whether you are a freelancer, site owner or even an agency.

The software is pretty intuitive, and can be used by most people with a basic understanding.

It has full drag & drop function, which is great for newbies, but that doesn’t mean that it’s basic. It does have sophistication that appeals to people who wants more capabilities.

With its ready made templates, you can begin creating ebooks right from the get go. Simply select the design that you fancy and make changes to the content to suit your business.

Together with the templates, you can also find attractive cover designs. These is very important as it is the first impression your readers will get, especially if you’re publishing to a platform like Kindle.

Pros & Cons of Sqribble

In our testing, we found that Sqribble lives up to its name in that it’s very simple to use. The templates are attractive, and even has a FlipBook feature to make browsing your e-books much better.

What I did not like that much is that Sqribble is slightly overpriced, considering that almost all of its features can be found in Designrr. And some features needs an additional fee in order to use them.

Review of Designrr

Designrr, just like Sqribble, comes with a myriad of features.

It enables you to create e-books with a few clicks, turning your existing content into a lead magnet. Everything you need to do is copy & paste an existing URL to the software and it does the rest of the job for you.

Covers, content pages & content will be auto generated.

Lots of templates are available for you to use, and you can tell that they’re conversion focused. The end goal of a campaign is to get conversions, and I think Designrr has done pretty well here.

After customising the templates & elements, you are able to save them for future usage, ensuring that you’re using the items that have worked well for you previously.

In their premium plan, there is even video transcription. What this means is that it can transcribe your YouTube videos or other videos you have created. This is really amazing, and is extremely helpful. Plus, the amount you save on hiring a transcriber is massive.

Pros and Cons of Designrr

The support provided by Designrr is high in quality & modern. Instead of relying on the old ticketing method, you can actually live chat with a customer service representative on their site.

I really like this as it gives you quick answers, something that traditional support takes days to get back.

Besides excelling in their core functions, I find that the software is really robust as well. Even if your uploaded document or video file is large, it handles the operation well & that’s a sign of a good software to me. The last thing I want is the software processing the job and crash ten minutes later.

The Layout Tab, Elements Tab & Inspector Tab made life super easy as a user trying to design an ebook.

What I did not like though, was that the software was slightly behind times in terms of design (sounds a bit ironic considering what it was built for). It did take me short while to get the hang of it, but it’s not a big issue.

I would say it is like buying new car and finding the signal lights switch on the opposite side of your old car.

Head to Head Comparison of Features

Useability

Both Sqribble & Designrr were user friendly, each with simple to use interfaces. After using them for a little while, you can figure out how to build your e-books very quickly. The Inspector Tab in Designrr really stood out for me, as you can pretty much handle all your tasks in this area.

Both software were good in making sure the key basic functions can be accessed easily & clearly:

  • Apply background colours & images to blocks
  • Add padding inside blocks to space out text or images
  • Add margins above and below sections of text
  • Create shadow effects on text blocks to make them pop and more eye catching
  • Choose either Google Fonts or any of the default fonts
  • Add special borders to sections of your content
  • Edit images

Winner: Designrr

Templates & photos library

Both of these softwares offer a bunch of ready to use templates, and has included a photos library where you can easily add stock photos to your e-book.

In terms of templates choice & design, both have done well and offered a wide variety. They look professional and in my opinion gives the user an advantage in designing attractive lead magnets.

For the photo library though, it is important, but I would not necessarily say that they are comprehensive. There are lots of other stock photo websites out there that can complement this though.

Pricing & Value for Money

This is probably my biggest gripe when it comes to comparing the 2. Sqribble is priced at $67 (one-off) but there are a lot of upsells. What this means is that you’ll need to pay extra to unlock some of the features.

That said, the basic version of Sqribble is good enough for most people, so unless you require additional functions, you like will not need to pay extra. It does come with a few bonuses that can be quite useful, but shouldn’t be your main consideration.

For Designrr though, the price is $27 each month, but you can cancel your subscription anytime. There is also a 7 days trial available.

The good news is, through Reviews Mill, you can sign up for Designrr right now at only $27. This grants you life time access, plus there is a Thirty days money-back guarantee.

Overall, Sqribble seems a better value if you intend to use it long term.

Winner: Designrr

Overall opinion of these 2 softwares

Some of you might be keen to know that Designrr actually came out to the market a couple of years before Sqribble, and they even claim that Sqribble is just copying them.

I think that is slightly far fetched, and quite frankly, there are lots of businesses ‘copying’ each other out there. Unless it’s blatantly similar, in which case there should be a lawsuit, there should not be such claims.

I do understand that after reading this comparison you might still be undecided, or needs a firm opinion. In that case, I’d advise you to go for Designrr if you can still get the $27 life time access through my site. If that has expired, go for Sqribble.

Make the right choice now!
